Wolftrap

Hello to all,

Last night was an unforgetable night. Both nights at Wolftrap were fantastic and seeing the "guys" after the show was the cherry on top.

I haven't seen Canut or Paul for over two years. After the show my friend Armand, a gipsy from Arles-friend of Canut's and Paul's since infancy, and myself joined the group at the Ritz Carlton in Tyson's Corner, VA. We all had a big dinner, and I spent most of the time chatting with Georges about our favorite "real" flamenco artists, while Canut was drawing cartoons of us on paper napkins. The Baliardos sat at a separate table, possibly because they were well accompanied, if you know what I mean.

My other friends, Richard and Kivanc, with whom I play flamenco from time to time, had brought their guitars and suddenly the restaurant, which had been reserved for the band only, turned into a little improv jam session. Andre and Canut sang with Canut delighting everyone with "Voy Voy Voy" and "A Tu Vera." We played tangos, fandangos, bulerias and alegrias and Patchai joined to sing with Andre. Then Paul and my friend Armand played a little fast rumba. Nicolas seemed tired and kept to himself at the head of the table, but when my friend Ricardo began to jam some bulerias he stood up and made his way over to hear better. We ended the night with only Andre and Georges left, as the rest of the guys went to bed, playing Paco de Lucia's "Entre Dos Aguas."

It was a memorable night. I shall be visiting Georges sometime in January in his town of Tarascon. Just thought I would share this incredible moment with all of you.

Regards,
Juan
