Uptown Theatre in Napa, California/Concert on Monday, July 1

:) Hi all. My friends and I were fortunate to be able to attend the Gipsy Kings in concert at the newly renovated and opened Uptown Theatre in Napa, CA. Even though Canut was not present, I thought that the guys still gave a great performance. The place was packed, and everyone was showing the love, and it was being returned. I could see how tired and hot all the guys were, but they still gave it their all. It was a very different show than the last three I have seen, probably because Canut was not there, and "his" songs really could not be performed in the same manner by any of the other members of the Gipsy Kings. But, Patchai did a great job on his vocals, and my friends and I came away so very happy and full of joy. I still love hearing Nicholas sing "Un Amor", no matter how many times I have heard it. All the guys were smiling for most of the concert, including sweet Paco. I wish peace for their family at this point, and a safe and speedy return home to their loved ones after being on the hot road for so very long.

We were also there and I agree with Karen. It was a great concert, about 2 hours including the intermission, and yes I think Andre and Patchai just didn't quite hit the mark on the songs Canut usually sings. I hope he's back for next years tour.
Having been able to find front row seats, right in front of Nicolas... my wife was very happy :)) Being so close I was able to pick up on interaction between group and the fans throughout the concert. It brought another dimension to the concert. I even thought I saw Paco smile once... Think it was when the dancer in Red was on stage... Karen, what did you think about the dancer in the Red dress... and when she was on stage, did you notice that Tonino walked off the stage before the song was over?
Overall, we had a great time and can't wait until next tour :))

Dear John:

I was sitting in the second row, right in front of Paco and Patchai - I have always been positioned on the left side of the stage. This was a treat as I like to observe as well as enjoy. Paco smiled a lot during this concert, which is very unusual for him. No, I did not see Tonino leave the stage before the number was completed. Everyone in my area was up and moving, which partially blocked the view. As far as the Lady In Red, I was able to talk with her briefly during the intermission, as well as after the concert. She told me that she has loved the Gipsy Kings since she was 12 years old, and it has been a dream of hers to be allowed on stage to dance for them. She was very beautiful up close, and had a heavy Latino accent. I did not ask her where she was from. She was on a true high at that point. She stated her dancing was a sign of love and respect towards the guys, period. It you noticed, Patchai encouraged the security team to allow her up with them, as well as the other beautiful ? gypsy girl/lady. He looked somewhat aggravated to me when Miss Red gravitated towards Nicholas. Nicholas obviously enjoyed her sincerity and beauty. As far as Tonino goes, who knows. He is the most cerebral of the group, perhaps; maybe was just irritated with the distraction right in front of him, and I am sure was more than a little tired and hot. I felt that Paco was there for him that evening especially - I could see the love pass back and forth between them.

Anyway, that is my take on this evening in response to your observations. Wish I could have met you too.

Sincerely, Gipsy Lady, Karen

I really appreciate everyone's reviews as all the Canadian concerts were too far for me to attend.
No Niagara Falls or Toronto this year.
Makes me feel like I was there; almost.
Thanks again.
