Concert venue mystery

Postby Amanda » Thu Jul 25, 2013 2:02 pm

Hi everyone,

On their official website tour page, the Gipsy Kings show the last concert of the American tour as the August 11 concert at the Ravinia Festival in Illinois. It shows no concerts for September. Then it shows a concert in Moscow on October 3. The page has been this way for several weeks.

However, on Ticketmaster, the Ravinia concert is not shown (yet it's shown on the official website of the Ravinia Festival, where they have often performed), and a September 20 concert in Niagara Falls, New York is shown. I have a friend who lives in Canada near Niagara Falls who is a GK fan and is so sad because she can't get a passport to travel to the U.S., due to the high cost. I told her this concert is not shown on the official GK site, so maybe it's a rumor or one of those impostor groups claiming to be the Gipsy Kings. She said no, she saw it on Ticketmaster. Besides being on Ticketmaster, this September 20 concert is shown on the website of the venue, the Seneca Falls Casino in Niagara Falls, NY, with a big photo of the Gipsy Kings.

Does anyone have any information about this mystery? If the GK have updated their official site to October with the Moscow concert, it would make sense that if they did have a concert in September, they'd show that too. Even Ticketmaster could make a mistake. I'm wondering if some impostor group convinced the Seneca Falls Casino that they were the Gipsy Kings and booked this concert date, and the casino informed Ticketmaster, who took the information at face value.

Thanks,

Hi Amanda,

Perhaps this is worth an email to management to clarify.

The Ravinia site is not listed on Ticketmaster since it is a non profit organization and legitimate tickets may only be purchased through Ravinia. (This is also why there is no meet and greet for this concert. I noticed all of the ones through Ticketmaster had a meet and greet option.)

Hi musicfan,

Thanks for the explanation about why the Ravinia Festival isn't on Ticketmaster. You're right, at this point an e-mail to management would be a good idea.

Hi everyone,

I see that the Seneca Falls concert is now on the World Tour page on this website, though it still isn't on the Gipsy Kings official site. Maybe it's just an oversight that it's not on their official site. I did e-mail Michel Crupel about the discrepancy. Since I have the Meet and Greet tickets for Saturday, maybe I'll get the chance to ask them.

Hi, Amanda!

Just a suggestion, but you might get a quicker answer from their American management team than from MIchel Crupel. I think I'd try that as well.

Hi rumbero,

Thanks for the info. When it was announced that their new album would be released on September 10, this concert date on September 20 made more sense. But it still isn't shown on their official website. It's possible someone just forgot to put it there.
