Does anyone know if this is in fact the name of this song.
It is listed as "La Camarga" by the person who posted.

I am not aware of it having been released on any album, but if someone knows, I would love to be able to be able to hear it more often.

Thanks....

(Also, it looks like there are still some gaps in the spring tour schedule ......keep checking.)

Thanks for posting this!! Yes, this is the name of this song, in Spanish; in French it's Camargue. You can hear it on this video, from the GK's official YouTube channel -- it starts at about 5:39:

Gipsy Kings - The Recording of Roots (Part 2)

You can also find the Recording of Roots in the Special Features on the "Live at Kenwood House" DVD, under "Recording Sessions." After the Introduction, Camargue is the first song (again, sung by Nicolas). Unfortunately, this beautiful song didn't make it onto the Roots album; they must have had to make choices to leave a couple of songs off the album, since they had too many for one album. Another song from this recording session, Mi Novia (sung by Patchai) also isn't on the Roots album, but it is part of the Live at Kenwood House concert. Unfortunately again, Camargue wasn't in the Kenwood House concert.

Thanks so much.

I was very much hoping it would have been released somewhere else by another name. I would love to be able to have it on a cd. I bet if one looks hard enough there is probably a way to convert the youtube video to some mp3 compatible format. Will have to look into it. :)

Thanks again!

Hi Musicfan,

You're welcome! Who knows, maybe Camargue will be on the new album we've been waiting for for so long, that will also have the new songs Caramelo and Samba.

I'd be interested to know if there's a way of converting the sound from a YouTube video to an MP3. I'm not enough of a techie to be able to do it myself, and I don't even have an iPod or similar device, but at least this song could be made available to us in a handy form. And think of all those wonderful informal performances that are on YouTube, those could be made into MP3s too.

Hi MusicFan,

This is very similar to a song called "Le Coeur d'un Gitan" off of the CD called "Los Reyes: Fete des Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer."

That was recorded in the late 70's, I think, by the pre-Gipsy Kings Reyes brothers after their dad passed away and they were no longer "Jose Reyes and Los Reyes." This was without Andre, as he was too young at the time, and before they got together with their cousins, the Baliardos; Tonino, Paco and Diego.

A truly great CD; a piece of history. Try to find it on eBay.

Good luck!!

Hi!

I wanted to add that Canut originally sung the song I previously mentioned and he did a great job, just as Nicolas does.

Hi,

Thanks so much for the information. I have been trying to acquire that CD for a while. I have "Gitan Poete" but have found the others more difficult to come by. I will keep checking, because on occasion a nice used one comes for sale.

Thanks again!

Hi musicfan!

La Camarga is indeed a beautiful song, I love it too. I wanted to give you this address: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/
You can convert any youtube video into mp3 audio there. The good thing is you make it online, so, you donĀ“t need to download any program.

Friends I am kind of sad because the GK come for the first time in years to latinamerica, but they are not singing in my country and I am not able to travel to Brazil or Argentina right now :-( . I hope some day I will see them live (can you imagine? I am such a huge fan and I have NEVER seen them in concert!!). Well well, wish you all a happy night!
