For those who have not seen this, the Gipsy Kings' Spanish Christmas song, "Navidad."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6boMmArdQc

The lyrics:

In English:

Today is Christmas, let us buy
Toys for poor children (so that) they can play

What day is it? It's Christmas Day
Waiting in the street (so that) they can play
(Are) the poor children (so that) they can play
(So that) they can play

Hopefully today, this Christmas Day
The children who are poor can play
They can play

Today is Christmas, let us buy
Toys for poor children (so that) they can play

Belated holiday greetings to all!

Thanks, Jusquin, for the translation of "Navidad." I always understood most of the lyrics, but not 100%. I always thought that this is a wonderful Christmas song that deserves to be more well known, not just as one of the Gipsy Kings' songs, but as a Spanish-language Christmas song that would be great for groups of people to sing at at holiday celebrations, along with the recording. It would be especially good for groups of mixed Spanish and English (or other language) speakers. Even people who speak no Spanish could start to pick up the lyrics.

Hi, Amanda,

Totally agree! In fact, back when I was teaching, I used it with my seventh-grade Spanish classes.

Hope you have a great New Year!
